James H. Strine age 70 of Hays, Kansas died Sunday, January 16, 2022, at Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas.

He was born June 1, 1951, in Horton, Kansas to Earl and Wilda (Hawk) Strine.

He was a Kansas State District Forester for 35 years and retired in 2013. He was a 1969 graduate of Atchison High School. He received a Bachelors Degree at the University of Missouri, and a Masters Degree at the Oklahoma State University both in Forest Management. He served in the Kansas National Guard, was active member of the World Wildlife Foundation, and the National Audubon Society.

James loved the outdoor and all wildlife, he will be remembered for his generosity and his sense of humor, but most of all a loving father, brother, and uncle.

Survivors include his son, Joshua Strine, Hays, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents; his two brothers, Wayne Strine and Clyde Strine.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2022, from 11:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M .at the Jo Ann Jennings and John T. Bird residence, 1395 Rome Road, Hays, Kansas. Josh Strine welcomes his dad's many friends to enjoy lunch from 11:00 to 1:00 with remarks honoring Jim to follow at 1:00. This is a casual open event so please come and go as your schedule allows.

A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
