James Dinkel, age 80, of Hays passed away Monday, April 1, 2013 at Hays Medical Center. He was born July 10, 1932 on the family farm located south of Ellis in rural Ellis County. He married Frances L. Knoll on August 7, 1950 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hays.
He had worked for the Hays Flour Mill then started working for F & L Plumbing. He retired from Fort Hays State University where he had worked as a plumber. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife Frances of Hays; sons, Jim "Hank" Dinkel and wife Joyce, Ray Dinkel and wife Marilyn; a daughter Jo Good and husband Gary all of Hays; a brother, Jake Dinkel of Mesquite, Nevada; three sisters, Viola Rupp of Hays, Rose Dechant of Kettering, Ohio and MaryAnn Tinder of Kansas City. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Travis Dinkel, Trevor Dinkel, Troie Lohse, Darcy Kimbrel, Scott Good, Rachel Harman and Carla Schmeidler as well as 12 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant brothers, a sister, Cecilia Graf, an infant sister and a great grandson, Cody Schmeidler.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, April 5, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Inurnment will follow in St. Marys Cemetery in Ellis.
The family will be present on Friday from 1:00 P.M. until service time at the church to greet friends.
Contributions are suggested to Hospice or the Oncology Unit at Hays Medical Center.
