Jacob Joseph Pfeifer, age 68, of Hays, passed away Monday, September 5th in rural Hays. He was born on August 7, 1943 in rural Ellis County, KS. to Jacob A. and Regina (Brungardt) Pfeifer. He married Sheila Leiker on November 30, 1968 in Antonino, Kansas. Jacob was a retired Lease Operator for OXY USA. He was a Vietnam veteran of the US Army, a member of the Hays VFW, St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church and a 3rd degree Knights of Columbus member of the St. Joseph's Council #1325. He is survived by his wife, Sheila of the home; a son, Jacob Jay Pfeifer and wife Jana of Hays; a daughter, Amy Regier and husband Chris of Edmond, OK; two brothers, Ralph Pfeifer of Olatha, KS. and Rudy Pfeifer of Linwood, KS; five sisters, Alice Schmidt of Russell, Rozanne French of Jacksonville, FL., Catherine Olson of Westminster, CO., Charlotte Ludwick of Fredericksburg, VA. and Armella Passni of Highland Park, Ill. Six grandchildren also survive him, Taylor and Andy Regier, Jacob, Benjamin, Matthew and Austin Pfeifer. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Daniel, Rudolph and William and three sisters, Kiliana Schmidt, Lorraine Williamson and Louise Scandura.Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday at St. Nicholas of Myra Church in Hays. Inurnment will follow services with military honors by the Hays VFW. The family will greet friends on Thursday 5:30 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at Brock's North Hill Chapel 2509 Vine Hays, KS. 67601. A parish vigil service will be Thursday at 6:15 P.M. followed by a St. Joseph's Council Knights of Columbus rosary service all at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to St. Nicholas of Myra Church and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
