Obituary
Jackie "Jack" Joe Watts- age 77, of Hays, Kansas died Thursday, March 18, 2021, at his home. He was born November 15, 1943, at Portis, Kansas to Orville Richard and Edna Mae (Maier) Watts. He married Barbara (Dillon) Grabbe then he married Karen T. (Dinges) on January 23, 1996, at Las Vegas, NV.
He worked at Shade Construction Company in Hays for 40 years, and became owner and operator of the Company. He grew up in Portis, and was a 1961 graduate of Portis High School, and received his Bachelors Degree in Teaching from Fort Hays State University in 1965. He was an auctioneer with Bob Munsch Auctions for over 20 years and had a used furniture store in Hays for a few years. He was a member of the New Life Center Assembly of God Church in Hays, an avid hunter, fisherman and football fan. Jack enjoyed golfing, playing cards and going gambling.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Watts, of the home; one son, Brian Watts and RoJene Brockelman, Hays, KS; one daughter, Julie Sulzman and Shawn Sulzman, Hays, KS; one step-son, Michael Schmidtberger and wife, Marcey, Walker, KS; two brothers, Gerald Watts and wife, Marlene, Downs, KS; Mike Watts, Topeka, KS; his mother-in-law, Mildred Dinges, Hays, KS; two step-sisters, Marjorie Albrecht, Downs, KS; Marilyn King, Hays, KS; five grandchildren, Cody (Tracy) Watts; Cade Watts; Shelby (Andrew) Bach; Kirsten Sulzman and her fianc, Zack Schilowsky; Sydney Sulzman and her fianc, Brady Jacques; three step-grandchildren, Taylor Schmidtberger; Kiley Schmidtberger and her fianc, Brady Beagley; Cole Schmidtberger; four great grandchildren, Elaina and Leo Bach; Sadie and Owen Watts.
He was preceded in death by his father; his mother; his step-father, Clifton Watts; and one nephew, Don Watts.
Memorial Services will be at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 23, 2021, at the New Life Center Assembly of God Church, 1701 East 22nd Street, Hays, Kansas with pastor Sabian Chaney officiating. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, at the church.
The family suggests memorials to the New Life Center Assembly of God Church or the Humane Society of the High Plains in care of the mortuary.
