Irene Legleiter

Irene J. Legleiter, age 94, of Hays passed away Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Via Christi Village, Hays. She was born May 19, 1920 in Munjor, Kansas to Matt and Clara (Ruder) Rohr. She married Bernard Legleiter on June 2, 1941 in Liebenthal, Kansas. He preceded her in death in October of 1989.

Irene was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, sewing, quilting and traveling to European Countries. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and Daughters of Isabella.

She is survived by three daughters, Judith Cool and husband William of Houston, TX, Betty McGavran and husband Fred of St. Louis and Jan Burtscher and husband Art of Omaha; a son, Rick Legleiter of Raleigh, NC; two brothers, Gene Rohr of Munjor and Julius Rohr of Wichita; a sister, Lorene Pfeifer of St. Louis; five grandchildren, Tyler Burtscher, Michelle, Stephanie, Marisa and Nicole McGavran and five great grandchildren, Jamie Seloover, Jacob Dunshie, Devin, Jenna and Anna McLaughlin.

She was preceded in death by a son, Eugene Legleiter; three brothers, Clarence, Tony and Al Rohr and a sister, Mary Ann Burgardt.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, June 3, 2014 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Hays.. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday 5 PM 8 PM at Brocks Funeral Home 2509 Vine Hays, KS 67601.and Thursday 9 AM 9:45 AM at the church.

A Daughters of Isabella rosary will be Tuesday at 6:30 PM followed by a parish vigil service at 7:00 PM all at the funeral chapel.
