Irene Keller-Zerfas

Irene Maxine Keller-Zerfas, age 84 of Hays, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Society, Hays. She was born June 29, 1928 in Ellis, Kansas to Frank A. and Carrie (Wentling) Keller. She married Albert Keller on November 7, 1946. He preceded her in death December 15, 1978. She married Bernard Zerfas on May 6, 1987. He preceded her in death on June 9, 2010.

She was a farmer and homemaker. She was baptized and confirmed at St John Lutheran Church where she remained a life long faithful member. She also participated in WELCA, and the church choir. She enjoyed dancing and card playing, gardening and spending time with her family that she loved so much.

Survivors include two sons, Dennis Keller and wife Connie of Zurich and Norman Keller and wife Sandy of hays; two daughters, Wanda Kortan and husband Terry of Palco and Sharon Keller of Hays; a brother, Arthur Keller of Wichita; two sisters, Minnie Keller and Martha Armbrister both of Ellis; grandchildren, Michelle Funk, Scott Kortan, Tracy Dinkel, Jeff Keller, Justin Keller, Joshua Keller, Lauren Keller and London Keller. She is also survived by nine great grandchildren, Madison and Trevor Funk, Ethan, Mallory, Mariah, Ebram, Mabree Kortan, Emma Dinkel and Jamie Keller.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Oscar Keller and a sister, Helen Schoenthaler.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Friday at St. Johns Lutheran Church, 7 miles North of Ellis. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday 5 PM - 8 PM with a prayer service at 7:30 PM all at Keithley Funeral Chapel 400 E. 17th Ellis, KS. 67637

Friday visitation will be at 10:00 AM until service time at the church.

Memorials are suggested to St. John Lutheran Church.
