Iola Depperschmidt

Iola May Depperschmidt, age 94, of Hays, passed away Monday, May 25, 2015 at the Grisell Memorial Hospital and Long Term Care Center in Ransom, Kansas. She was born July 24, 1920 in Woodston, Kansas to Jay and Luella (Denny) Cahail. She graduated from Woodston High School. She was married to Harold Schultz and then to Lavern Depperschmidt. Both preceded her in death.

She had worked as a nurse during her working career. Upon her retirement she became active in the Hays Senior Companion program.

She is survived by two daughters, Sheryl Schilowsky and husband Emery of Grand Island, Nebraska and Bernadine Schultz of Great bend, Kansas; 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Gary Schultz; a daughter, Rosalee Reeves; 4 brothers and 2 sisters.

Funeral services will be 10 AM Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Brocks-Keithley Funeral Chapel & Crematory 2509 Vine Hays, KS 67601. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Liebenthal, KS.

Visitation will be Wednesday 4 PM 8 PM and Thursday 9 AM until service time all at the funeral chapel.

Memorials are suggested to the donors choice.
