Howard B Peters

Howard B. Peters, age 65, of Olathe formerly of Hays, passed away Saturday, February 4, 2012 at the University of Kansas Hospital. He was born December 6, 1946 in Carroll, Iowa to Alvie and Helen (Schroeder) Peters. He married Kristen Lindsten on December 26, 2004 in Las Vegas. Howard was a long time business owner and consultant in Hays. He served as a professor in the communication and business departments at Fort Hays State University and had a passion for teaching. He also enjoyed over 30 years as a coach and league director for Kids Federated Football. He is survived by his wife Kristen of Olathe, KS; a daughter, Steph Niernberger and husband Mike of Hays, KS; five sons, Chuck Peters and wife Robyn of Lindsborg, KS, Dan Peters and wife Tammy of Olathe, KS, Nick Peters and wife Karen of Highlands Ranch, CO, PJ Peters and wife Jessica of Olathe, KS, and Jason Peters and wife Ashley of Olathe, KS; a sister, Margene Nickel and husband Bill of Woodward, IA; and twenty grandchildren, Jordan, Sydney and Peyton Niernberger, Andrew, Belle, Noelle, Breanne and Bridget Peters, Leighton, Dylan and Brooke Peters, Alek, Erik and Calli Peters, Skylar, Jace and Nash Peters, Emmitt, Melia and Nolan Peters. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial services will be 4:00 P.M. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church of Hays. Private family inurnment will be at a later date. The family will greet friends Friday 3:00 P.M. - 4:00 P.M. at the church. Services in care of Brocks North Hill Chapel, 2509 Vine, Hays, KS 67601. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Hays Football Association or the Hays Medical Center Foundation (designate DeBakey Heart Institute in the memo) and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
