Helen Befort

Helen (Pfeifer) Befort, age 95, of Hays, passed away Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011 at her home. She was born on August 25, 1916 in rural Ellis County, Kansas near Hyacinth to John M. and Clara (Boxler) Pfeifer. She married August "Gus" Befort on June 17, 1935 in Munjor, KS. He preceded her in death on December 16, 2002. Helen was a farmwife and homemaker who enjoyed making quilts and baking. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Lacrosse.She is survived by a son, Jim (Carol) Befort of Birmingham, Al; a daughter, Alberta (Bob) Klaus of Hays; a sister, Albina (Ed) Befort of Hays; a brother-in-law, Leroy Leiker of Colorado Springs; ten grandchildren, Bruce (Janel) Befort, Karen Befort (Tom Simpson), Clayton (Sharon) Befort, Rod (Kathy) Befort, Rex (Karen) Befort, Marj (Klaus) (Tony) Marcinelli, Gwen Klaus, Sean (Whitney) Befort, Kristin Patrick (Thomas Patrick II) and Matthew Befort; fifteen great grandchildren, Becky Atkins, Tammy Niernberger, Clinton Long, Austin Befort,Andy Befort, Shellie Befort, Mitch Befort, Chad Befort, Cole Befort, Corey Befort, Charlsie Klaus, Anthony Marcinelli, Joseph Marcinelli, Christopher Befort, Will Patrick and Trey Patrick and ten great-great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, George Befort, four sisters, Ceverina Fross, Mary Ealdon, Irene Urban and Kay Leiker and three brothers, Ben Pfeifer, Elmer Pfeifer and John Pfeifer.Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at Brock's North Hill Chapel 2509 Vine Hays, KS. 67601. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Hays.Visitation will be Monday 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. and Tuesday 10:00 A.M. until service time all at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Hays Maranatha School or Hospice at Hays Medical Center and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
