Heather Hecky-Gage, age 42 of Hays, Kansas died Thursday, August 12, 2021, at Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas. She was born September 1, 1978 in San Jose, California to Sylvester K. and Gayle L. (Mallory) Hecky. She married Lee R. Gage on April 22, 2014 in Reno, NV.

She was a para educator for three years at the Hays Middle School for USD 489. She grew up in California and Hawaii, and attended high school in California. She moved to Hays in 2016, and enjoyed fine wine, crafting and tv crime shows.

Survivors include her husband, Lee Gage, of the home; her children, Gavin Jacobson, Bodhi Gage, and Sharon Gage, all of the home; her mother, Gayle Hecky-Kurup, Hays, KS; three brothers, Jacob Kurup and wife, Kristin, Russell; Nicholas Kurup, Hays, KS;

Kaniela Hecky-Kamaka, Waianae, HI; her sister, Melissa Sennett and Brian Summers, Hays, KS; and a brother-in-law, Henry May, Wichita, KS.

She was preceded in death by her father; and her sister, April May.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, August 23, 2021, at Clines-Keithley Mortuary of Hays, 1919 East 22nd Street, Hays, Kansas 67601. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Monday, at the mortuary.

The family suggests memorials to the Heather Hecky family made payable to: Lee Gage in care of the mortuary.
