Obituary



Gloria "Kay" (Bates) Tittel, 82, of Osborne, KS formerly of Pea Ridge, AR, passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at HaysMed.

Kay was born April, 16, 1938, the daughter of Kenneth and Lola (Conn) Bates, in Osborne, KS. She graduated from Alton High School in 1956, and then married Gary L. Eller on June 10, 1956, they had a son Jeff and daughter Lori born from that union. She attended Fort Hays State University, receiving her Bachelors Degree in English then going on to earn her Masters Degree. On September 7, 1985 she married Ralph William Tittel in Salina, KS. They moved from Salina to Pea Ridge, AR in 2006 where she lived until her recent move to Osborne, KS.

Survivors include her daughter Lori Bieker and husband Robert, Hays, KS; stepdaughters: Lana Charles-Girrens and husband Tim, of Wichita, KS; Jana Methany and husband Frank, Nakomis, FL; Fern Hess and husband Gary, McPherson, KS. Grandsons: Matthew Eller and wife Melissa, Emporia, KS; Devin Legleiter and wife Mariah and Derek Legleiter, all of Hays, KS. Step grandsons: Jeremy Bender and wife Misha, Wichita, KS; Dr. James Voss and wife Dr. Kristin, Bratenahl, OH; Brian Voss and wife Jenny, Sabetha, KS; and Hunter Hess, of Lenexa, KS. Step granddaughters, Heidi Martin and husband Cory, Wichita, KS; Sarah Vanderweide and husband Mark, Olathe, KS; and Meredith Hess, Prairie Village, KS. Two great grandaughters, 16 Step great grandchildren. Brothers: Paul Bates and wife Sandy of Bella Vista, AR; Brian Bates and wife, Barbara Creekmore, Pea Ridge, AR and numerous nieces and nephews.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ralph; son Jeffry Allen Eller; and brother Gary Bates.

Memorials are suggested to St. Judes Hospital or Hospice at HaysMed and may be sent in care of Brocks-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 2509 Vine Street Hays, KS 67601.

Graveside services will be Thursday, August 27, 2020 at 11:00 AM at St Johns Lutheran Cemetery, Russell, KS.
