Freida Hagen

Freida (Sauer) Hagen, age 90, of Ellis passed away Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Trego County Long Term Care Facility in WaKeeney. She was born March 11, 1923 in Ellis to William and Mary (Zackman) Sauer. After graduating from Ellis High School she married Ernest Hagen on October 19, 1944 in Ellis. He preceded her in death on March 12, 2008.

Freida was a homemaker and had worked at Baxter-Travenol for many years. She also farmed along side her husband. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and a Sunday school teacher. Freida was a loving grandmother and loved to watch her grandchildren and great grandchildren at all kinds of school events and summer ball. She also enjoyed spending time with her family playing pinochle at gatherings and holidays.

Survivors include two granddaughters, Cappy Werner and husband Ronald of Plainville and Wendy Hamel and husband Jody of Damar; five great grandchildren, Dalton and Shania Werner of Plainville and Shelby, Cameron and Connor Knipp all of Damar. Two brothers, Arnold Sauer of Ellis and Larry Sauer of Oklahoma, also survive her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Vivian Ullen (Hagen) Ouderkirk on January 20, 2009; two sisters, Adelle Keller and Hattie Dietz and two brothers, Gardner Sauer and Billie Sauer.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Thursday at Christ Lutheran Church in Ellis. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Ellis.

Visitation will be Wednesday 6 PM 8 PM at Keithley Funeral Chapel 400 E. 17th Ellis, KS. 67637 and Thursday 9:30 AM service time at the church.
