Obituary
Frances Mae (Schuler) Pfannenstiel age 89, of Hays, Kansas died Friday, March 18, 2022, at Via Christi Village Care Center, Hays, Kansas.
She was born on August 8, 1932, in Ness City, Kansas to Otto and Clara (Werner) Schuler. She married Earl R. Pfannenstiel on June 16, 1953, at Ness City, Kansas. He preceded her in death on May 1, 2000.
She worked at the Hays V.F.W. lounge for a number of years and also was the assistant manager at Claires at The Mall. Frances grew up in Ness City, and was a 1950 graduate of Ness City High School. She was a member of the Hays Daughters of Isabella, the Hays V.F.W. Auxiliary, and after retirement she volunteered at the Community Assistance Center in Hays. She was known for her famous rival soup, blackberry kuchen, and enjoyed bowling, playing cards, bingo, and sewing.
Survivors include her children, Paula Grubbs and husband, David, Laurinburg, NC; Randy Pfannenstiel and wife, Mary, Wichita, KS; Kurt Pfannenstiel, Wichita, KS; Lori Schmidtberger and husband, Brad, Victoria, KS; her grandchildren, Jill Grubbs; Kelly Nelson and Ty; Morgan Grubbs; Audra Pfannenstiel; Paige Pfannenstiel; Wyatt Pfannenstiel; Erica Dinges and Eric; Trisha Wanuku and Samuel; Joshua Schmidtberger
And Justice Roberds; and her six great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Christine Pfannenstiel; her brothers, Orie Schuler; Joe Schuler; Verlin Schuler; Bernard Schuler;
her sisters, Rita Boehm; Katie Dome; and Dorothy Schuler.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church, 2901 East 13th Street, Hays, Kansas with Father Damian Richards officiation. Burial in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Hays, Kansas.
A Hays V.F.W. Auxiliary Memorial Service with a Daughter of Isabella rosary, and Vigil Service will be at 6:30 P.M. Monday, at Clines-Keithley of Hays, 1919 East 22nd Street, Hays, Kansas 67601.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday, at Clines-Keithley Mortuary of Hays, and from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, at St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church.
