Obituary



Florine M. Sanders, age 94, of Hays, Kansas passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at Via Christi Village in Hays. She was born March 14, 1926 in Ellis, Kansas to John and Agnes (Spies) Younker. She married Alvin J. Sanders July 20, 1946.

Florine was a homemaker and former gift shop manager of St. Anthony Hospital in Hays. She was a former member of the St. Johns New Horizons Auxiliary serving as president and a member of the Fort Hays State University Senior Companion Program.

Florine was a loving, kind and caring person who was generous with her time. A creative and talented person who enjoyed teaching arts and crafts, including the art of making porcelain dolls. She was considered by her grand children a kind and loving person. "The best grandmother anyone could ask for."

She is survived by her son, Thomas Sanders, Wichita, KS; sister Twila Griffin, Weatherford, OK; brother and sister in law, Walter and Mary Younker, Hays, KS; grandchildren Abbey and Scott Frantz, Dallas, TX; Dr. Thomas Jr. and Dr. Rebecca Sanders, Joplin, MO; and great grandchildren Graham Thomas and Henry Pierce Sanders, Joplin, MO.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter Bonnie Sanders, her parents, a brother Clarence Younker and two sisters, Lucille Staab and Katherine Schmidt.

Extended visitation times due to the COVID-19 pandemic are as follows: Saturday, May 16th from 1 PM to 6 PM and Sunday, May 17th from 1 PM to 8 PM all at Brock's-Keithley Funeral Home and Crematory, 2509 Vine, Hays, KS. Please be aware that social distancing measures and gatherings not larger than 10 persons at a time will be observed during said visitation times. If you are not feeling well, please use the on-line guest book.

Visitation will be at 9 AM 11 AM followed by Daughters of Isabella rosary at 10 AM at the Church.

Funeral services will be at 11 AM Monday, May 18, 2020 at St. Nicholas of Myra Church in Hays Burial will be at St. Josephs Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Nicholas Church of Hays, KS, and the Alzheimers and Dementia Foundation in care of Brocks Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 2509 Vine, Hays, Kansas.
