Flora Marie Zerfas

Flora Marie Zerfas, age 89, of Ellis, currently living in Cimarron, passed away Sunday, October 7, 2012 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. She was born April 6, 1923 in Ellis to William E. and Elizabeth (Wolbach) Bowen. She graduated from Ellis High School. She married Raymond Zerfas on May 25, 1941 in Ellis. He preceded her in death on December 31, 2008.

She was a homemaker and also worked for the National Fish Hatchery at Cedar Bluff as a Typist/Clerk for twenty plus years. She was a member of the Ellis United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Domestic Arts Club and she enjoyed sewing, quilting and painting.

Survivors include a son, Larry Zerfas of WaKeeney; a daughter, Connie Lynn and husband Vyrl of Cimarron; a Sister-In-Law, Loretta Jacobs of Apple Valley, CA; five grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, James Bowen, a step brother, Harry Bowen and a sister, Helen Ruth Zerfas.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Monday, October 15, 2012 at the Ellis United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Ellis.

Visitation will be Sunday, Oct. 14th from 4 PM 6 PM at Keithley Funeral Chapel 400 E. 17th Ellis, KS. 67637. Monday visitation will be at the church starting at 9:30 AM until service time.

Memorials are suggested to the Ellis United Methodist Church.
