Evelyn Waldschmidt

Evelyn M. Waldschmidt, 79, of Hays, Kansas died Saturday, September 4, 2010 at Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital, WaKeeney. Evelyn was born July 21, 1931 in Catherine, Kansas to John and Mary (Quint) Geist. After attending schools in both Catherine and Ellis, she married Paul Waldschmidt on July 28, 1949 in Ellis. She and her husband worked together as dairy farmers in Wakeeney for more than 40 years and she was a most loving wife and mother throughout her life.Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl Mefford and husband, Ed, of WaKeeney and Iris Riggs and husband, Matt, of Running Springs, CA along with a granddaughter, Erin Riggs, of Berkeley, California.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Paul; four brothers, Fred Geist, Celestine Geist, Henry Geist, and Joseph Geist; and three sisters, Isabelle Rupp, Anna Hawkins, and Alberta Wagner. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, September 11 at Centennial Towers, 2502 Sherman Avenue, Hays; inurnment in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ellis. Services in care of Keithley Funeral Chapel 400 E. 17th, Ellis.Memorials are suggested to Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital Endowment and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
