Evelyn Schumacher

Evelyn L. Schumacher, age 82 of Hays, passed away Thursday, December 18, 2014 at Hays Medical Center. She was born October 22, 1932 in Ellis, Kansas to J.C. and Olive (Mickelson) Hays. She married Ralph Schumacher on August 12, 1962. He preceded her in death May 25, 1990.

Evelyn was a Finance Broker. She graduated from Northwestern University Trust School. Her memberships included United Methodist Church of Hays, Eastern Star where she had served as Grand Matron, Business of Professional Women and Ladies VFW Auxiliary of Russell. She enjoyed gardening and traveling.

She is survived by a son, Don and wife Jean Larsen of Russell; two daughters, Patti Heier of Colby and Candice and husband Ron Petzold of Edmond, OK; three brothers, David Hays and wife Sharon of Alexander; Jay Hays of Kanopolis Lake and Alan Hays and wife Donna of Ellis; three sisters, Donna Kuhn of Hays, Ellen Baldwin and husband Kent of Great Bend and Cleo Hockman and husband Rick of Hill City. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, a step-grandchild and 3 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson Brandon Larsen.
