Esther Elizabeth Gribben

Esther Elizabeth Gribben, age 94, of Hays, passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. She was born May 31, 1922 in Salina, Kansas to Henry and Anna (Stevens) Wolfson. She graduated from Salina High School in 1940. She married Ralph Gribben on January 4, 1943 in Denver, Colorado. He preceded her in death on March 23, 2000.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, Altar Society and Christian Mothers and the VFW Auxiliary where she served as past local president, department color bearer and past district commander.

She is survived by a son, Bernie Gribben of Stillwater, Oklahoma; two daughters, Carolyn Bartelt and husband Don of Joliet, Illinois and Marsha Erickson and husband Dick of Everett, Washington; a sister Helen Wolfson of Salina, Kansas, nine grandchildren, Heather Kay, Casey Gribben, Adam Gribben, Anna Peery, Allison Dwyer, Joel Bartelt, Elizabeth Bartelt, Ryan Erickson and Matt Erickson as well as 11 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Cliff Wolfson.

Funeral services will be 10 AM Monday, August 15, 2016 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday 5 PM - 8 PM and Monday 9 AM - 9:30 AM all at Brock's-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory 2509 Vine Hays, KS 67601.

A VFW Auxiliary prayer service will be Sunday at 6:15 PM followed by a combined Daughters of Isabella and VFW Auxiliary rosary at 6:30 PM and a parish vigil service at 7 PM all at the funeral chapel.

Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph's Church or donor's choice.
