Eric James Walters

Eric J. Walters, age 36, of Catherine died Thursday, August 20, 2009 at the Hays Medical Center after a valiant fight with brain cancer. He was born on October 7, 1972 in Hays, Kansas to Herb and Jan (Dawson) Walters. He graduated from Hays High School in 1991. Eric was a sand blaster and welder by trade working at Steel Fabrications in Hays. He was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church. He is survived by his mother, Jan Walters of Catherine; three brothers, Herb, Lawrence, Martin and wife Anita of Hays and Barry and friend Jana of Meade; three sisters, Debbra Lovell of Hays, Barbara Parrish and husband Clyde of Benson, N.C., and Theresa Brown and husband Scott of Salina; eight nephews, nine nieces and four great nieces. He was preceded in death by his father, Herb Walters, grandparents, Tony and Lidwina Walters and Arthur and Alvina Dawson; and a brother, Mark. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, August 24 th at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Catherine. Burial will be in St. Catherine Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday 4:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. and on Monday 9:00 A.M. - 10:00 A.M. all at Brock's North Hill Chapel, 2509 Vine, Hays. A parish vigil service will be at 7:00 P.M. on Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Dreiling/Schmidt Cancer Institute at Hays Medical Center.
