Elvin Leroy Patee

Obituary



Elvin Leroy Patee, age 75 of Ellis, Kansas passed away Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital in WaKeeney, Kansas. He was born October 31, 1943 in rural Kiowa County, Kansas to Emery & Margaret (Evans) Patee. On July 30, 1966 he married Patricia Kutina at the Ellis United Methodist Church. She preceded him in death April 15, 2011.

Leroy was a heavy equipment operator beginning his career working on the construction of I-70, where he met Patty. Later, Leroy was employed with Allied Construction. Then, with partners, created Hays Asphalt Company, now called J Corp, finally retiring in 2006. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and perfecting his recipe on smoked hogs in his homemade cooker for social gatherings.

Leroy is survived by his son, Terry Patee and wife Dena and their children Ty and Trace all of Ellis; a brother, Melvin Patee of Denver, CO and two sisters, Shirley Kuddes of Phoenix, AZ and Carolyn Perry of Portland, TN.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents and wife Patty.

Memorial services will be 2 PM on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the Ellis United Methodist Church. Inurnment will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery.
