Edward F. "Eddie" Schumacher, age 84, of Hays, passed away Friday, March 27, 2015 at his home. He was born November 6, 1930 in Munjor, KS to Isidor and Cecilia (Dinges) Schumacher. He graduated from Schoenchen High School in 1949. On April 23, 1951 he married Cora Munsch in Schoenchen, KS. Eddie was a longtime area contractor owning and operating Ed Schumacher Construction. In 1980 he expanded his business with his son Bob operating as Ed Schumacher and Son Construction and Sprinkler Systems. He was a US Marine Veteran attaining the rank of CPL, He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Adoration Adorers, Hays American Legion and the Edwin A. Schumacher Marine Corp League. Eddie was an avid sports fan and enjoyed all family activities. Eddie is survived by his wife, Cora of the home; a son, Robert "Bob" Schumacher and wife Marilyn of Hays; A daughter, Pamela "Pam" Pfannenstiel and husband Dennis of Hays; three brothers, Marvin, Melvin and Don Schumacher all of Hays; three sisters, Evelyn Dreher of Hays, Dolores Vonfeldt of Pratt and Carol Staab of Colorado; five grandchildren, Brandon, Tyler and Jeremy Pfannenstiel all of Hays and Darren Schumacher of Denver and Ross Schumacher of Hays; four great grandchildren, Deshawn and Leah Schumacher and Eli and Reid Pfannenstiel. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Ralph, Cletus and Francis Schumacher. Funeral services will be 10 AM Wednesday at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Hays. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Hays. Military Honors compliments of the Hays VFW Honorguard, Hays Legion Riders and the Edwin A. Schumacher Marine Corp League. Visitation will be Tuesday 4 PM - 8 PM and Wednesday 9 AM - 9:30 AM all at Brock's-Keithley Funeral Chapel 2509 Vine Hays, KS. 67601. There will be an Adoration Adorers rosary at 4:15 PM Tuesday followed by a parish vigil service at 6:30 PM at the funeral chapel. A Marine Corp League Memorial Service will be 9:15 AM Wednesday at the funeral chapel. Memorials are suggested to the St. Josephs Food Pantry.
