Edward "Ed" Heronema, of Hays, KS, passed away on Monday, October 30, 2017 at his home at the age of 73. Ed was born the son of William and Alvina (Rupp) Heronema on February 22, 1944 in Hays, KS. He attended school at Jefferson West Grade School in Hays. After his fathers passing, he received a scholarship to St. Joseph Military Academy in Hays and graduated in 1962. Ed married Joanna "Jo" DeMoss on January 30, 1988 in Pratt, KS. Together they shared 29 years of marriage.
Ed was a long-time chemical salesman in the oil industry. He had worked for C.O. Mammals, Tretolite Chemicals and retired in 2009 from Baker Hughes. He was a St. Josephs Council 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus Member, Sons of the VFW and Sons of the American Legion. Ed loved spending time riding his Trike Motorcycle, being with his wife and family and will be remembered for being a quick-witted salesman.
Survivors include his beloved wife of the home, Jo Heronema of Hays; three sons, Lee Heronema and his wife Jennifer of Midland, MI, Myron Heronema of Garland, TX, Mike Heronema and his wife Carmen of Mustang, OK; step-son, Terry Wilbourn of Brush, CO; daughter, Marla Heronema of Derby, KS; step-daughter, Sherri Bottom and her husband Darren of Little River, KS; 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Ed is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Leroy Heronema
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Friday, November 3, 2017 at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 201 W. 13th St., Hays, KS 67601. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 2, 2017 from 4-8:00 P.M., with the family present from 5:30 to 6:30 PM and Friday from 9:00 A.M. until 9:30 A.M., all at Brock's-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory 2509 Vine Hays, KS 67601.
Thursday a parish vigil service will be at 6:30 P.M., followed by a St. Joseph's Council 3rd degree Knights of Columbus rosary at 7:00 P.M., all at the funeral chapel.
Memorial contributions can be made in Eds loving memory to the St. Josephs Catholic Church Remodeling Project.
