Doug Stites

Obituary

Martin Douglas Stites, (Doug to all who knew him) passed away on Saturday, November 6th, 2021.

Doug was born on March 30, 1948 in Hays, Kansas to Lawrence and Hortense (Tiny) Stites. He graduated from Hill City High School then attended Fort Hays State University until he was called to serve his country in Vietnam where he was stationed at Nha Trang from 1969-1970. In 1976, he became a founding Broker of Farmland Auction and Realty in Hays, KS.

Doug enjoyed many hobbies such as golf, fishing, and wood working. One of his greatest joys was driving around town in his side-by-side visiting friends. Doug embraced the community. Not only did he enjoy meeting new people, but they became fast friends. He had a way of making all his friendships long lasting and meaningful. And for that, will truly be missed.

He is survived by his loving wife Becky of 53 years, children, Greg M. Stites (Kristina) and Heather A. Pfannenstiel (Andy Mergen), two grandchildren and 3 step-grandchildren. He is also survived by his older brother Mark Stites (Theresa) and sister Trish Moore (Milt) along with several nieces and nephews.
