Doris Schoenthaler

Doris Elizabeth (Ball) Schoenthaler, age 86, of Ellis, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2013, in WaKeeney, Kan. She was born on May 31, 1927, in Ellis, Kan. to John Wallace and Maude Agnes (Summers) Ball. She was married to Bernie Schoenthaler on June 19, 1946, at Christ Lutheran Church in Ellis.

Doris worked at the Ellis Review eight years where she taught herself to operate the newspaper's first teletype setting machine. She then worked at Ft. Hays State University for 16 years first in the Athletic Department, then as Executive Assistant to the Universitys Vice President of Alumni before retiring in 1985.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernie and her parents John and Maude Ball; brothers Everett, LeRoy and Jack Ball; and sisters Ruth (Ball) Schoenberger and Edith (Ball) Gaschler.

Survivors include her daughter, Cheryl Robertson (R.J.) both of Little Rock Arkansas; and her son, Brian Schoenthaler (Sheri) both of Valley Center, Kan.; and eight grandchildren; Leslie Robertson, Vail, Colo.; Jamie and Ashley Robertson, Denver, Colo.; Brandon (Liz), Schoenthaler, Valley Center; Brenton (Tara) Schoenthaler, Wichita, Kan.; Braden Schoenthaler, Wichita; and Bryson and Brittni Schoenthaler, Valley Center.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, September 28, 2013 at Keithley Funeral Chapel, 400 E. 17th, in Ellis. A graveside service immediately after at Mt. Hope Cemetery also in Ellis.
