Donna Jean Schafer, age 88, of Ellis, Kansas passed away Sunday, January 30, 2022, in Ellis. She was born August 7, 1933, in Kansas City, Missouri to Vincent Henry and Alberta Marie (Michaels) Kunzweiler. Donna graduated in 1951 from East High School in Kansas City where her favorite sport was field hockey. On November 5, 1955, she married Clarence Victor Schafer at Childrens Memorial Lutheran Church in Kansas City. Clarence preceded her in death on June 30, 2016.

Donna worked at Sears Roebuck and Company as a waitress and also performed marketing for their store catalog. After her marriage to Clarence, she was a homemaker, wife, and mother to her three daughters. Later in life, she was employed as a bookkeeper for Harries Leasing and Sales. Donna was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church. She enjoyed many activities including sewing, attending many social activities and dancing with Clarence. She also loved to play a vast variety of card games, and was also a member of the local Bridge Club. Above all else, she was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, with a strong love for her family. Donna never knew a stranger and would always go out of her way to visit with everyone around her. She always enjoyed attending activities of all of her family throughout the years...she was everyones biggest fan.

Donna is survived by three daughters, Karen Bowen and husband David of Manhattan, Gayle Pfannenstiel of WaKeeney and Marian Lindberg and husband Glyn of Ellis; a brother, William R. Kunzweiler of Florida; a sister, Sharon Doane of Lee's Summit; two half-sisters, Patty Martino of Kansas City and Diane Peele of Kansas City; half brother, John Burkinnine; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence; and a brother, Vincent Lee Kunzweiler.

Funeral services will be 10 AM Saturday, February 5, 2022, at Christ Lutheran Church in Ellis with Pastor John Morley III officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Ellis.

Visitation will be Friday 6 PM - 8 PM at Keithley Funeral Chapel 400 E. 17th Ellis, KS 67637. Saturday 9 AM until service time at the church.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Christ Lutheran Church, Humane Society of the High Plains or Hays Veterinary Hospital.
