Donald Hertel

Donald Lee "Donnie" Hertel, age 62, of Hays, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2011 at Hays Medical Center. He was born on August 23, 1948 in Hays, Kansas to John and Clementine (Fross) Hertel.He was currently working at Hays Medical Center in the food service department. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.He is survived by two nieces, Sharon Smythe, of Salina, Kansas and Sheila Schmidt, of San Antonio, Texas; one nephew, Rick Schmidt, of Salina, Kansas; several cousins, as well as numerous great-nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Ronald, and one sister, Mary Schmidt.Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 11, 2011, at 2:00 pm at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Hays, Kansas.Visitation will be Sunday, July 10, 2011 from 4:00 - 8:00 pm, with a rosary at 7:00 pm and Monday 1:00 P.M. - 1:30 P.M. all at Brock's North Hill Chapel 2509 Vine Hays, KS. 67601.Memorials are suggested to the Dreiling-Schmidt Cancer Center.
