Don R. Younger

Obituary



Don R. Younger, age 71, of Ellis, Kansas passed away October 1, 2020 at Hays Medical Center. Don was born April 9, 1949 in Hays, Kansas to Michael and Seraphine (Bieker) Younger. He graduated in 1967 from Ellis High School. On July 8, 1967 he married Rita (Boos) at St. Marys Catholic Church in Ellis. They were married for 53 years.

Don was a Master Electrician and owned Dons Electric & Rewind in Ellis over 30 years. He was a long-time member of the Ellis Golf Club, a saxophonist as a member of the Younger Band and other various bands without being able to read a note. Don and Rita also farmed part-time for over 45 years on the family farm south of Ellis, and it was one of his greatest joys. He also enjoyed playing cards, playing golf and family gatherings.

He is survived by his wife Rita of Ellis; three sons, Donnie (Wanda) Younger, Bobby (Toni) Younger and Aaron (Jennifer) Younger all of Ellis; a sister, Lillian Reynolds of Sunrise Beach, Missouri; grandsons, Gage, Landon, Bryce, Cale and Mason Younger, granddaughter Aspen Younger along with his loving and faithful pet German Shepard, Mac.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Walter, John, Bill, Michael and Robert as well as sisters, Evelyn, Edna and Viola.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at St. Marys catholic Church in Ellis. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Fr. Dana Clark will be officiating.

Visitation will be Tuesday 6 PM 8 PM with a combined Knights of Columbus rosary and parish vigil at 7 PM all at St. Marys Church.
