Dennis D. "Denny" Schoenthaler, age 70 of Ellis, passed away Friday, May 20, 2011 at his home. He was born on June 9, 1940 in rural Ellis County, Kansas to Gerhardt and Helen (Deutscher) Schoenthaler. He graduated from Ellis High School in 1958 and attended Fort Hays State University and Kansas State University studying Nuclear Physics. He married Virginia "Ginger" Gabel on September 11, 1965 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ellis. He was a life long carpenter owning and operating Schoenthaler Cabinets. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church of Ellis and enjoyed gardening and woodworking. Denny is survived by his wife, Virginia of the home; a son, Troy Schoenthaler and wife Barb of Greeley, CO; a daughter, Bonnie Hahn and husband Kevin of Frisco, CO; a sister, Clarinda Gillespie and husband Gene of Ft. Collins, CO. and five grandchildren, Erik, Justin, Jacob, Holly and Ben.He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Allen Schoenthaler.Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday at Christ Lutheran Church in Ellis. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Ellis.Visitation will be Monday 5:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. and Tuesday 10:00 A.M. until service time all at Christ Lutheran Church. A prayer service will be Monday at 7:30 P.M. also at the church.
