Dennis Donald Bakos, age 80, of Hays, Kansas, passed away on Monday, September 18, 2023, in Wichita, Kansas. He was born on November 13, 1942, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Joseph and Geraldine (Levine) Bakos. Dennis attended St. Lawrence Seminary in Mt. Calvary, Wisconsin and made a significant impact during his lifetime.
On February 7, 1970, Dennis married the love of his life, Evelyn Dale Phelps, in Shawnee Mission, Kansas. He served his country as a US Army Veteran and then embarked on a successful career path.
Dennis worked for Schlitz Brewing Company, where he was in charge of ordering raw products. He later became the vice president of Hop Union, ultimately finishing his career as the president of the company. His dedication and hard work left a lasting legacy in the brewing industry.
Outside of his professional life, Dennis had a deep love for reading, drawing, and spending weekends watching movies with his son. He cherished these moments of relaxation and bonding.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn, of Hays; his son, Jason Joseph Bakos, and wife Melinda, along with their children, Makenna and Ashlyn, all residing in Spokane, Washington. He is also survived by his siblings, Diane, Christine, Andrea, Antoinette, and his younger brother, also named Dennis.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services to honor Dennis's life will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at the Comeau Catholic Campus Center, located at 506 W. 6th, Hays.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Lawrence Seminary 301 Church Street Mt. Calvary, WI 53057, a cause that held special meaning for Dennis.

Dennis Donald Bakos will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his country, and his successful career. His legacy will live on in the hearts and memories of those who knew and loved him.
