Delbert Kelly

Delbert W. Kelly, age 86, of Ellis, Passed away Thursday, June 9th at Hays Medical Center. He was born June 10, 1924 in Onaga, Kansas to Marvin and Lillian (Rockwell) Kelly. He attended schools in Onaga, Manhattan and South Dakota State College while serving in the US Air Force. He married Alma May on May 29, 1948 at Christ Lutheran Church in Ellis.Delbert was a US Air Force veteran serving during WW II and the Korean War. He worked for Union Pacific Railroad retiring after 42 years of service. He was a member of the Transportation Communications Union for 67 years and a member of the American Legion.He is survived by his wife Alma of Ellis; a son, Mark of Ellis and a sister, Dixie Le Kracke of Chapman, KS.He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Darrell. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, June 13th at Keithley Funeral Chapel 400 E. 17th Ellis, KS. 67637 with burial to follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Ellis. Visitation will be Sunday 6 - 8 pm and Monday 9:30 am until service time at the funeral home.Contributions are suggested to the Ellis Railroad Museum.
