Obituary
Deborah Ann Potter age 68, of WaKeeney, Kansas died Monday, May 17, 2021, at Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas. She was born February 11, 1953 in Long Beach, CA to James Allen and Renota Jean (Crowder) McGinnis. She married Thomas Dale Potter on February 22, 1971, in Santa Ana, CA and celebrated their 50 year wedding anniversary.
Deborah was a homemaker, she grew up and attended school in Garden Grove, CA and lived most of her life in California until moving to Kansas in 2004. She was an avid reader, thrift store shopper, did quilting, crocheting and cross-stitching. Her favorite time of years was Christmas and enjoyed playing "May I" with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Tom Potter, of the home; three daughters, Laurie Van Ingen, Lynden, WA; Michele Potter, and Stacey Potter, both of WaKeeney, KS; one brother, Robert McGinnis, of SD; three sisters, Vickie Hampton and husband, Grayson, McCracken, KS; Sandy Fieser and husband, Ed, St. Louis, MO; Jamie Crowder, Hunting Beach, CA; seven grandchildren: Amy, Anna (Truman), Gerrit, Amber, Jennifer, Matthew and Justin; and two great grandchildren: Olivia and Kaido.
She was preceded in death by her step-father, James Crower and her mother, Renota and grandparents, Adrian and Irene Carson.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, June 19, 2021, at Clines-Keithley Mortuary of Hays, 1919 E. 22nd Street, Hays, Kansas 67601. Inurnment will be at 12:00 noon, Saturday, at the WaKeeney City Cemetery, WaKeeney, Kansas.
The family will receive friends from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. at the mortuary.
The family suggests memorials to the Fresenius Kidney Care, Hays, Kansas make payable to the: organization in care of the mortuary.
