Deanne Sue Lundstedt

Deanne Sue (Dillon) Lundstedt, age 87, of Ellis, Kansas passed away Thursday, January 9, 2025 at the Good Samaritan Society, Ellis. She was born October 3, 1937 in Hutchinson, Kansas to Kermit and Willa (Markle) Dillon. Deanne was a graduate of the Kansas School for the deaf. In August of 1959 she met and married her sweetheart, Elmer L. Lundstedt, in Hutchinson, Kansas. He preceded her in death on April 20, 2021.

Along with being a homemaker, she always worked providing service to others. She was a long-time employee at Denny’s IGA and cleaned homes while she lived in Scott City, Kansas and in Ellis she continued to clean homes. She enjoyed cross stitching, water painting and pencil drawing, growing plants and educating herself by reading.

She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Ellis where she also participated in the women’s quilters group. She was also a member of the Kansas Association of the Deaf and the Hays Association of the Deaf.

Deanne is survived by her daughters, Rita Phillippi and husband Randy of Lawrence, Kansas and Tracy Kinderknecht and husband Melvin of Ellis, Kansas; a brother, John Dillon and husband Dayton Bard of Santa Fe, New Mexico; ten grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two sisters, infant Sally Dillon and Sandra Wooten.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at Christ Lutheran Church in Ellis. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Ellis.

Visitation will be Monday 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Keithley Funeral Chapel 400 E. 17th Street Ellis, Kansas 67637.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Christ Lutheran Church or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
