Dean Edward Bigge, Hays, passed away May 8th, 2022 at the Good Samaritan Society in Hays, Kansas. Dean was born July 18, 1935, the son of Benjamin George and Sophia Elizabeth (Griffith) Bigge.

Dean grew up on the family farm in Stockton KS and was a graduate of Stockton high school. He graduated the Automotive Vocational Technical College in St. Louis, MO in 1955.

Dean met his sweetheart Elaine Tomasheck in Salina, KS and the two were married in March of 1956 in St. John's Lutheran Church north of Ellis.

Dean was an ASE certified master mechanic, a home builder and produced beautiful woodworking projects and furniture for family and friends.

He was the founding instructor of the NCK auto mechanic training school here in Hays. When not in the shop/classroom you could find him golfing in Ellis with his buddies as well as attending family functions and events where he received a great sense of satisfaction watching his children and grandchildren achieve their educational and professional goals.

Dean is survived by his wife, Elaine of Hays; children: Katherine S. (Gary) Zink of Ponca City, OK; Michael Dean Bigge of Wichita, KS; and Mark A. Bigge of Hays. Sister-in-law: Ruth Bigge of Salina; Niece: Janet M. Bigge; and Nephew: Stephen Bigge of Topeka. Seven grandchildren and Six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother: Earl E. Bigge; and a niece: Patricia A. Bigge.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials benefitting NCK Automotive Technical College, Hays, in care of the funeral home.
