David M. Herl

David M. Herl, age 64 of Independence, MO passed away Friday, May 8, 2015 at Promise Hospital and Skilled Nursing center in Overland Park, KS. He was born October 13, 1950 in Hays, KS to Melvin Joseph and Esther Marie (Sauer) Herl. He graduated from Hays High in 1968 and attended Washburn University.

David spent his adult life in the Kansas City, MO area working in restaurant management and ownership. He owned several PoFolks restaurants in the Kansas City area for many years. His passion was muscle cars, baseball and APA Pool. He was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by four sisters, Cynthia J.(Herl) Brown of Independence, MO, Jacquline S. (Herl) Bisterfeldt of Las Vegas, NV, Melissa M. (Herl) Lacey and husband David of Costa Mesa, CA and Stephanie L. (Herl) Kramer and husband Bill of Hays, KS; a brother, Mark M. Herl and wife Rachel of Hays, KS; seven nieces, Barbara (Brown) Halepeska and husband Chad and children Brianna, and Kiefer, Nicole (Bisterfeldt) Rainey and husband Aaron and daughter Madilynn Elizabeth, Danielle Bisterfeldt, Esther Lacey, Amanda (Kramer) Brown and husband Theodore and son Quinten, Sarah (Kramer) Pfeifer and husband Ryan and Elena Herl; two nephews, Ivan Lacey and Jason Kramer.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 16, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hays. Burial will follow services at Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery in Antonino, KS.

Visitation will be Friday 6 PM 8 PM and Saturday 9 AM 9:30 AM at Brocks-Keithley Funeral Chapel 2509 Vine Hays, KS 67601.

There will be a parish vigil service at 7 PM Friday at the funeral chapel.

Memorial contributions are suggested to be used according to the wishes of the family.
