Obituary
Darwin Earl Voss age 85 of Hays, Kansas died Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at the Rush County Memorial Hospital, LaCrosse, Kansas.
He was born August 15, 1937, in rural Cherry County Nebraska to Henry Earl and Marjorie Ellen (Johnson) Voss Jr. He married Ruth Arlene (Rissen) on September 3, 1960, at Topeka, Kansas.
Darwin worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 25 years throughout the state of Kansas and retired in 1991. He grew up in Cherry County Nebraska, was a graduate of Curtis High School in Curtis, Nebraska, and attended McCook Junior College. Darwin served in the U S Air Force from 1958 to 1962, as an aircraft engine mechanic. He and his wife, Ruth moved to Hays in 2014, and he has been a resident at the Locust Grove Village Care Center in LaCrosse since 2017. He was a member of the High Plains Baptist Church, enjoyed fishing, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Voss, LaCrosse, KS; his children, Kirk Voss and wife, Annette, Hays, KS; Doug Voss and wife, Diana, Overland Park, KS; Neal Voss, Rantoul, KS; Brenda Robben and husband, Chris, Victoria, KS; his brothers, Jerry Voss and wife, Doris, Long Pine, NE; Carroll Voss and wife, Syd, Wash; his brother-in-law, Walter Ries Jr, Wood Lake, NE; his grandchildren, Amanda Kuxhausen; Scott Voss (Anne); Trenton Voss and Priscilla; Anna Voss and Alyssa Raker; Rachel Dart (Colin); Kaylin Disney (Louie) Kortney Donly (Stephen); Allyson Smith (Christopher); Cole Robben and Jayde Jantzen; Breanna Robben and Trevor Bieker; Brooklin Robben; and his six great grandchildren.
Darwin was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Eldon Voss; and his sister, Arlene Ries.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, January 21, 2023 at the High Plains Baptist Church, 2700 Canterbury, Hays, Kansas with Rev. Benny Lowery officiating. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
The family will receive friends from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. Saturday, at the Church. The family suggests memorials made payable to: The High Plains Baptist Church or Locust Grove Village Care Center.
The Voss Family would like to invite all family and friends for fellowship and a luncheon at Thirstys Brew Pub and Grill 2704 Vine Street after memorial services.
