Obituary
Curt F. Pfannenstiel age 55, of Hays, Kansas died Monday, January 4, 2021, at Kansas University Medical Center, Kansas City, Kansas due to COVID-19 complications.
He was born July 14, 1965, in Hays, Kansas to Verlin F. and Elaine A. (Zimmerman) Pfannenstiel. He married Stacy (Legere) then later married Traci (Boman) on December 30, 2011, on St. Lucia Island. Curt and Traci celebrated their marriage at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Munjor, Kansas on October 27, 2012.
He was co-owner and manager of Heartland Building Center of Hays, Stockton, and Russell. Curt had been employed with the family business for 40 years. He was a 1983 graduate of Hays High School, attended Butler Community College, Colby Community College, and graduated with a Bachelor Degree from Fort Hays State University. Curt played American Legion Baseball, Larks Baseball of Hays, and while in college he played baseball. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, a board member of Options of Hays, and a board member of the Heart of America Corporation of Hays.
Survivors include his wife, Traci Pfannenstiel, of the home; one son, Quin Pfannenstiel, Holdrege, NE; two daughters, Arin Pfannenstiel and husband, Clayton Basgall, Hays, KS; Emma Pfannenstiel, Hays, KS; two step-sons, Braden Splichal and wife, Grace, Hays, KS; Konnor Splichal, Hays, KS; one step-daughter, Sidney Splichal, Hays, KS; his parents, Verlin F. and Elaine Pfannenstiel, Munjor, KS; two brothers, Russ Pfannenstiel, Hays, KS; Ryan Pfannenstiel and wife, Argelia, Garden City, KS; two sisters, Christi Lungren and husband, Steve, Ponca City, OK; Cindy Pfannenstiel, Hays, KS; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edward and Oliva (Lang) Pfannenstiel; Albert and Martina (Ruder) Zimmerman; and his step-grandmother, Felicitas (Giebler) Zimmerman.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, January 9, 2021, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Munjor, Kansas. Burial will be in St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery.
A vigil service and rosary will be at 7:00 P.M. Friday, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, and from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. Saturday, all at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
The family suggests memorials to St. Francis Of Assisi Catholic Church or Hays Medical Center Foundation.
Services are entrusted to Clines-Keithley Mortuary of Hays, 1919 East 22nd Street, Hays, Kansas 67601.
