Conrad (Connie) L Rohr Sr, 84, Hays, died Wednesday, January 1st, 2014 at Ellis Good Samaritan Center after a 4 year struggle with metastatic prostate cancer. He was born on September 5th, 1929 in Hays to Joseph L and Agatha (Dreher) Rohr. He married Benita A Rohr in August of 1950. They were happily married for 63 years.
He was drafted in May of 1951 for the Korean Conflict, Stationed in Soeul, Puson & Tague, Korea with the 22nd Signal Group Headquarters-Headquarters Co, (Motor Pool Division). He was discharged April 1953, Camp Carson, Colo.
He was employed at S&W Supply Company, Hays and Central Welding and Machine in Hutchinson, KS. After retiring he enjoyed playing golf daily. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, a lifetime member of Veteran of Foreign Wars, Knights of Columbus Council No 1325. Bishop Cunningham Assembly Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife, Benita of the Home; son Conrad L Rohr Jr, and wife Debra, Wichita; daughter Becky Schaeffer and husband Gary, Hays; four Grandchildren Matt and Courtney Rohr of Wichita, Cherise Schaeffer Shawnee, KS and Alex Schaeffer Laguna Hills, CA; two great Granddaughters Marleigh and Maira Rohr, Wichita; two sisters Clementine Begler and Marcella Wolf of Denver, CO.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers, Philip, Ted, Jerry, Adolph and Alfred; and two sisters Rosie Dinkel & Florine Pelzel.
Services will be at 10:00am Saturday at St Joseph Catholic Church, burial In St Joseph Cemetery with military honors by the VFW.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8pm Friday and from 9 to 9:30am Saturday, both at Brocks North Hill Chapel, 2509 Vine St.
Friday a rosary by the Daughters of Isabella at 6:00pm, The Bishop Cunningham Fourth Degree Knights rosary at 6:30pm and a parish vigil Service at 7:00pm all at Brocks North Hill Chapel.
