Clara Irene Oman, age 82, of Almena, died Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Hays Medical Center. She was born August 6, 1929 in Phillips County, Kansas to John and Airetta (Wolfe) Calhoon. She married James Brassfield in 1953. He preceded her in death in 1959. She married Donald Oman in 1975 and he preceded her in death in 2005.
She had worked in Medical Records at the State Sanatorium in Norton, the Norton County Hospital, as a librarian at the Almena Library and she volunteered at the Prairie Dog Press newspaper. She was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting, quilting and square dancing. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Norton.
She is survived by a son, Allen Brassfield and wife Debbie of Hays, Ks; four grandchildren, Erica Post, James Brassfield, Natasha Bender and Katrina Brassfield; 5 great grandchildren; a niece, Cherrie Slater and two nephews, Kevin and John Calhoon.
Her parents and a brother, James Calhoon preceded her in death.
Memorial services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 21st at Immanuel Lutheran Church 14715 W. Washington Rd. Norton, KS. 67654. Private family internment will be at a later date.
