Christina T. Werth, a beloved member of the Schoenchen, Kansas community, passed away at the Hays Medical Center on August 4, 2023, at the age of 82. She was born on December 29, 1940, in Horbach, Germany, to Alois and Anna (Geist) Franz. Christina's journey in life was one filled with love, family, and a rich tapestry of interests and activities.
On May 25, 1962, Christina married the love of her life, Leroy P. Werth, in Germany. Their union was one of enduring companionship, marked by a deep and abiding affection. Leroy's passing on December 13, 2020, left a void in her heart.
Christina's life was graced with many passions. She cherished her time spent with dear lady friends, sharing stories over cups of coffee. Her nimble fingers were skilled in knitting and sewing, creating beautiful pieces. She had an indomitable spirit when it came to card games, and her competitive edge shone through in games of pitch, pinochle, and bridge – her favorites. Beyond these hobbies, she found purpose in her involvement with St. Anthony Catholic Church in Schoenchen, Kansas. Christina actively participated in the Altar Society, Religious Education, and served on the dinner committee. She also lent her guidance as a 4-H leader, shaping the lives of young members of her community.
Proud of her German heritage, Christina effortlessly expressed herself in her native tongue. Her elegance and grace extended beyond appearance, encompassing her actions and interactions. She had an endearing quirk in her driving abilities, which often sparked light-hearted conversations within the family.
Christina leaves behind cherished memories that will be held close by her loved ones. She is survived by her sons, LeRoy Werth Jr. and wife Joann of Hays, and Eric Werth and Sayre Shuck of Schoenchen; her daughters, Sonya Peters and Ken Nolan of Lincoln, and Michaela Werth of Phoenix; a sister Rosie in Germany; ten grandchildren, Ericka, Ashley, Peyton, Gavin, Michael, Seth, Spencer, Sierra, Jessica, and Nathaniel, as well as nineteen great-grandchildren.
She joins her parents, her husband, a granddaughter Erin Elizabeth Werth, and a brother Walter in eternal peace.
The funeral mass to celebrate Christina's life will be held on August 26, 2023, at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Schoenchen, Kansas, with Fr. Curtis Carlson officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery.
