Carey Scott Jordan, age 31, of Schoenchen, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at Hays Medical Center. He was born on April 14, 1992, in Wichita, Kansas, to his parents, Scott Allen Jordan and Lynette Rumpel. Carey's journey was filled with a passion for mechanics, a warm heart, and an unquenchable curiosity for life.
Carey graduated from Hays High School in 2010, a pivotal milestone in his life. He was known to be a dedicated individual who put his heart into everything he did. Professionally, he was the manager and cook at Pheasant Run in Hays, but his true love was working with engines. Carey was a natural mechanic, finding joy in tinkering with engines and solving mechanical puzzles, and sometimes creating a few also. Throughout his career, he lent his expertise to Rein's Repair, Greg's Alignment, and Hays Chevy. He also served as the assistant manager at Quality Quick Lube before becoming the manager of Pioneer Quick Lube.
Beyond his work, Carey had a diverse range of interests. He had a true passion for cooking. Family and friends were his pillars of strength, and he cherished spending time with them. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, displaying his love for the outdoors. As a gunsmith, Carey's expertise extended into many areas, reflecting his ceaseless desire to learn and grow.
Carey's vibrant personality was a constant source of joy for those around him. He was quick-witted, often playful, and had a big smile and an infectious laugh. His outgoing nature led him to continually seek out new experiences and adventures. Despite his robust exterior. Carey possessed a tender heart and was known to shed a tear when faced with the loss of an animal's life.
Carey is survived by his mother and stepfather, Lynette Rumpel and Lonnie Werth of Hays, Kansas; a sister, Chantee Jordan (Grant Holland) of San Marcos, Texas; grandmothers, Evea Rumpel of WaKeeney, Kansas, and Sue Jordan of Hays, Kansas; uncles, Aaron Rumpel of WaKeeney, Kansas, Randy Jordan (Myrna) of Hays, Kansas and Larry Werth (Michele) of Brewster, Kansas; aunt, Reesa Gerhard of Hays, Kansas; two step sisters, Kaylee Werth (Tyler Snider) of Harrison, Arkansas and Cassidy Werth of Fort Worth, Texas; nieces, Samantha Rude and Israel Snider; nephews, Jordan Holland and Liam Snider; cousins, Christopher Jordan (Emily) of Manhattan, Kansas, Matthew Jordan of St. George, Kansas, Nikki Wiggins (Ryan) of Russell, Kansas, Gardner Jordan (Alexes) of San Tan Valley, Arizona, Bailey Jordan of Brighton, Colorado, and Kourtney Talkington (Skyler) of Ellis, Kansas, as well as the fiancé of his late father Scott, Becky Meserve of Hays, Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his father, Scott Allen Jordan and his grandfathers, Randy Jordan Sr. and Raymond Rumpel.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, September 20th, at the Hays First United Methodist Church, located at 305 W. 7th.
A memorial visitation will take place on Tuesday from 5 PM to 7 PM at Keithley Funeral Homes and Crematory Brock's Chapel, 2509 Vine, Hays, KS 67601.
In memory of Carey, memorial contributions are suggested to the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, c/o Fish Docking.
