Bridgett Karst

Bridgett L. Karst, age 92, of Hays, passed away Thursday, September 1st at St. John's of Victoria. She was born June 9, 1919 in Pfeifer, Kansas to John Peter and Margaret (Kisner) Jacobs. She married Melvin B. Karst on August 9, 1939. He preceded her in death on April 3, 2003.She enjoyed cooking, was known forher green thumb as was apparent by her beautiful gardens, she loved entertaining her grandchildren and driving too fast. She embraced life and will be missed.Bridgett was a homemaker and co-owner of Karst Water Well Service. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Hays.She is survived by a son, Melvin Karst Jr. and wife Kathy of Hays; two daughters, Sharron Befort and husband Don of Hays and Melly Schmidt and partner Ann Rostow of Austin, Texas; a brother, Alfred Jacobs of Salina; a sister, Rose Breit of Wichita; 20 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by a daughter, Charlsie Ruder Koerner; two grandsons, Andrew and Clayton Schmidt; seven brothers, George, John, Andrew, Ig, Ray, Victor and Paul and seven sisters, Katy Garner, Emma Werth, Mary Breit, Helen Schupman, Margaret Schupman, Virginia Schlegel and Ann Pfannenstiel.Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 6th at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.Visitation will be Monday 4:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. and Tuesday 9:00 A.M. - 9:30 A.M. at Brock's North Hill Chapel 2509 Vine Hays, KS. 67601.A rosary service will be Monday at 6:00 P.M. followed by a parish vigil service at 6:30 P.M. all at the funeral home.Memorials are suggested to the TMP-Marian Music Department.
