Bonnie J. Pfeifer

Bonnie Jean Pfeifer, age 85, of Hays, passed away Monday, March 14th in Hays. She was born on August 12, 1925 in Plainville, Kansas to Cecil H. and Luella Mae (Hancock) Smith Sr. She married Ralph J. Pfeifer on August 14, 1944 in hays. He preceded her in death on January 11, 2004.She was a homemaker and an avid gardener. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, a lifetime member of Altar Society and Christian Mothers and also a past member of St. John's Auxiliary.Bonnie is survived by a son, Terry Pfeifer of Hays; three brothers, Don Smith and wife Jeannie of Manhattan, Les smith and wife Judy of Hays and Cecil "Bud" Smith Jr. and wife Mary of Colby; two sisters, Peggy Klaus and husband Gerald of Hays and Betha Garretson of Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren, Benjamin Pfeifer of PA., Isaac Angers of CA., Jason Pfeifer of CO., Mandy Schumaker and husband Shane of Norton, Michael Pfeifer, Jeff Pfeifer and Jessica Pfeifer all of Hays; two great granddaughters, Nataley and Lauren Schumaker of Norton and a daughter-in-law, Terri Douglass of Hamilton, MT. She was preceded in death by a son, Larry Pfeifer; a brother, Robert Smith; two sisters, Almeda Ann Light and Donna Kay Bohanon and a sister-in-law, Elizabeth "Betty" Smith.Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Hays with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.Visitation will be Friday 4:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. and Saturday 9:30 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. all at Brock's North Hill Chapel - 2509 Vine - Hays.The Altar Society and Christian Mothers will have a rosary service at 4:00 P.M. Friday and there will be a parish vigil service at 6:30 P.M. Friday all at the funeral home.In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to the Bonnie J. Pfeifer Memorial Fund with the designation to be determined at a later date. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home.
