Bob Templeton

Robert C. "BoB" Templeton, age 80, of Hays, passed away Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Hays Medical Center. He was born April 17, 1934 in Hastings Nebraska to Thomas Carroll and Gladys Marie (Tippen) Templeton.



He attended Broken Bow public schools and Hastings College before graduating from Brown Institute of Broadcasting, Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1954. He married Ruth Helen Streng December 25, 1956 in Beatrice, Nebraska. She preceded him in death December 10, 2012.



BoB was a longtime Radio Broadcaster, Manager, Program and News Director for numerous radio stations from Nebraska, New Jersey, Wisconsin and ending with KAYS in Hays, Kansas retiring as manager in 1989. He was the Executive Director of the Hays Chamber of Commerce from 1989 until 2000.



He was affiliated with several national and state boards associated with broadcasting. He was also involved in numerous community activities as well as a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Smoky Hill Country Club.



He is survived by two daughters, Laura Lechner and husband David of Wichita and Kari Beetch and husband Greg of Abilene; grandchildren Katie Thompson, Kori, Kristina, Nora and Nick Lechner all of Wichita, Justin Beetch of Salina, Chad and Travis Beetch of Abilene; three great grandchildren, Karley Luper, Kameryn and Kinley Thompson; a brother, Tom Templeton and wife Donna of Monte Vista, CO as well as numerous nieces and nephews.



He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Harlee Lechner.



Memorials services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hays. Inurnment will be in Mt. Allen Cemetery. Arrangements in care of Brocks Funeral Chapel 2509 Vine Hays, KS 67601.
