Blanche Erbert, Ellis, KS, left us to meet the Lord on August 6, 2017. She was born November 15, 1920, south of Ellis in Glencoe Township, Trego County, to Louis and Stephanie (Schuster) Locker.

She attended Silver Lake country school and was a 1938 graduate of Ellis High School. United in marriage to Leonard Erbert at St. Marys Catholic Church, the couple then moved to Wichita and employment with Cessna. Later, they were called home to manage the Erbert family farm 5 miles north of Ellis, where they remained. They celebrated 63 years of marriage and nine children. Blanche was a retired Travenol employee. She was Home and School president at St. Marys for a number of years, parish choir member, later a Eucharistic Minister for the homebound. She also served as a 4-H sewing leader, and volunteer for ARC of Hays. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, gardening and canning. She was especially fond of children and animals. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, David of Huntsville, AL; daughter, Joan Atchison of Kirwin, KS; two grandsons, Travis Atchison and John Atchison. She is survived by four daughters, Jeanette Guinn of Tulsa, OK, Judy Elman of Iola, WI, Jane Zook of Larned, KS and Jacqueline Murphy of Ellis, KS. Three sons, Mark of Tucson, AZ, Fredrick and Patrick of Wichita, KS. She delighted in her 28 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Survivors also include two sisters, Louise Halfman, Parsons, KS, Frances Butler of Escondido, CA; a brother, Arthur of Phoenix, AZ and a loving extended family of nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at the St. Marys Catholic Church in Ellis, KS. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery. Memorial visitation will be held on Friday, August 25, 2017 from 6-8:00 P.M. with a combined Rosary and Parish Vigil Service at 7:00 P.M. at the church. Memorial contributions can be made in Blanches memory to St. Marys School. Donations can be left or mailed in care of the funeral home.
