Elizabeth "Betty" (Storm) Waldschmidt. Age 69, of Ellis, passed away Monday, July 18th at the Lutheran Medical Center in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. She was born May 8, 1942 on the Storm family farm south of Ellis to Leo Storm Sr. and Ida Gerstner. She graduated from Ellis High School in 1960. She married Edward Waldschmidt on June 4, 1960 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ellis.She received her Kansas State Real Estate Sales Agent License in 1980 and was a realtor in the Hays and Ellis areas for the past 31 years working for Bickle-Ellner Realtors and then Dean Ellner Realtors. She was a Member of the HAYS, KANSAS and NATIONAL BOARD OF REALTORS; She served on numerous committees and as Chairperson on several of them. She was the Hays Board of Realtors Realtor of the year in 2000, Multi-Million Dollar Producer in 1985 and from 1992 - PRESENT. She was also a member of the Ellis Chamber of Commerce, Ellis Rotary Club serving as past President and Vice President, a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Betty also enjoyed attending all of her grandchildren's activities rarely missing any.Betty is survived by her husband of 51 years, Edward Waldschmidt of Ellis; a son, Joseph L. Waldschmidt and wife Connie of Ellis; two daughters, Mary Beth Fischer and friend Kurt Sell of Hays and Amy Schoenberger and husband Gerard of WaKeeney; four brothers, Bernard Storm of Wheat Ridge, CO., Jim Storm of Sheridan, WY. Robert Storm of LaCrosse and Steven Storm of Albert, KS; four sisters, Darlene Colby of Tucson, AZ., Anita Wompey of Arvada, CO., Jean Storm-Tubbs of Minneapolis, MN. and Mary Ellen Miller of Oklahoma. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Nicole Fischer and fiance Tom Bollig of Manhattan, Brianna Fischer of Hays, Ben Schoenberger of Manhattan, Kristen Waldschmidt of Ellis, Elizabeth Schoenberger of WaKeeney, Courtney Waldschmidt of Ellis and Sarah Schoenberger of WaKeeney.She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Leo Storm Jr. and a sister, Joyce Storm.Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ellis. Private family inurnment will be at a later date in St. Mary's Cemetery in Ellis.Visitation will be Thursday 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM with a parish vigil and rosary service at 7:00 PM all at St. Mary's Church.
