Benita E. Lippert, 88, Hays, died Monday, October 31st, 2011, at Southwind Hospice Home, Pratt.



She was born September 25, 1923 in Hays to Peter and Lucy (Stecklein) Gottschalk. She married Rolland Blaine Lippert on August 15, 1952, in Hays. He preceded her in death, July 6, 1963.



She was a homemaker in rural Bison and she farmed and ranched with her husband in Rush County until her husband's death, and then attained an associate secretarial degree at Fort Hays State College. She then worked over 21 years at Fort Hays State University, first in the Business Office and then as the Office Manager at FHSU Graduate School. She also had worked for years at the Mall kiosk for the Hays Convention and Visitors Center and for the election board for Ellis County.



She was a member of St. Joseph's Parish, Daughters of Isabella, supporting member of the Congregation of Sisters of St. Agnes, St. John's Auxiliary of Hays, Ellis County Historical Society, Ladies Auxiliary VFW, and the Central Association of the Miraculous Medal. She was former member of the Sunflower Square Dance Club. For 16 years she volunteered weekly at Hays Medical Center and paid weekly visits to residents in St. John's Nursing Homes in Hays and Victoria.



Survivors include daughters Bess McCarty, Victoria, and Lucy Lippert, Gorham; sons Thomas Blaine Lippert and wife, Shelly, Hays, Lance Rolland Lippert and wife, Joan, Normal, Illinois; 5 grandchildren and 3 step-grandchildren, and two great-grandsons.



She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers George Gottschalk, Fr. Timothy Gottschalk, Richard Gottschalk, Victor Gottschalk, Justin Gottschalk; sisters Florentine Hansen, Irene Macy, Helena Gottschalk, Fidelia Walters, Helen Breit, Louise Gillogly; and step-grandson Tanner Patzner.



Services will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays; burial following in St. Joseph Church cemetery.



Visitation will be Thursday from 4 PM - 8 PM and Friday 9 AM - 9:30 A.M. all at Brock's North Hill Chapel, 2509 Vine St., Hays, KS.



The Associates of the Sisters of St. Agnes service will be Thursday at 4:30 P.M. and a combined Daughters of Isabella, St. John's Auxiliary and VFW Auxiliary rosary service will be at 6:00 PM followed by a parish vigil service at 6:30 all at the funeral home.



Memorials are suggested to Southwind Hospice of Pratt, TMP-Marian High School or the Daughters of Isabella.
