Barbara J. Mumford

Barbara Jane Mumford, age 51, of Hays passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2013 in Hays, KS. She was born on Saturday, June 23rd, 1962 to Paul Harvey Skeen and Betty Jane Rice Skeen in Cleveland, Ohio. Barbara spent her formative years in Winfield, Il. with her parents, where she graduated high school from Glenbard West High School.

Barbara was an avid Christ-follower, and raised her children to also be so. She made sure that they attended church wherever they lived. She also held a wide assortment of jobs throughout her life, her favorite being a cook at LaCrosse High School, where she could see her children every day. Her greatest accomplishment in life was giving birth to and raising her two children, Autumn Lynn Mumford, 20, and Kansas Lee Mumford, 23, of Winfield, Kan.

Barbara was truly blessed in her lifetime and used her life to bless others. Whether they were a helpless person or a helpless animal, she was there with comfort and the biggest heart, just as the Lord instructs from all of us. Barbaras love for Gods creations was undeniable.

Barbara is preceded in death by her loving parents. She leaves to cherish her memory her son and her daughter, her sister Martha Redding and her aunts Sarah Rice Hall and Dorothy Rice Roberts, all of Canton, N.C.

Her services were held Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013 at the Gracepoint Church in Winfield, Kan. Any donations can be given at the Community National Bank in Winfield.
