Arthur Paul Coleman, 80, of Lake St Louis, MO, formerly of Ellis, KS, passed away in the loving arms of God on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at home. He was born on October 28, 1931, in Paris, Arkansas, to Jim and Ella (Riddle) Coleman. He married Karolyn Kaye (Witt) Coleman on July 25, 1955, in Great Bend, KS.
He worked in the oil fields of North America, South America and Saudi Arabia. Later he began a second career as a gold miner in Elko, NV. He retired from the gold mines and later returned to Ellis and worked at Wal-Mart in Hays, and then Wheelchairs of Kansas, in Ellis.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Ellis.
Survivors include a son, Mark, and daughter-in-law, Lynn of Lake St Louis, MO; a daughter-in-law, Renae Coleman, of Gillette, WY; two brothers, Ralph Coleman, of Gillette, WY and Joe Coleman, of Wichita, KS; four sisters, Clynelle Gamble of Arlington, TX, Imogene Cox of Wichita, KS, Judy Coleman of Lindale, TX, and Sammi Campbell of Oklahoma City, OK. He had eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Karolyn Coleman in January 2012, two sons, John Coleman in 2011 from Elko, NV and Jim Coleman in 1994 from Gillette, WY.
Funeral services will be Monday, September 3, 2012 at St Marys Catholic Church in Ellis. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Ellis.
Visitation will be Sunday, September 2, 6 PM - 7 PM with a parish vigil service at 7 PM all at Keithley Funeral Chapel 400 E. 17th Ellis, KS. 67637
Memorials are suggested to VFW in Ellis.
