Armella Wiesner Waldschmidt

Armella Wiesner Waldschmidt, age 84, formerly of Ellis, Wakeeney and Russell passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at the Presbyterian Manor in Salina, Kansas. She was born August 6, 1930 in Hays to Daniel and Katherine (Lang) Braun. She attended school until the 8th grade at Girls Catholic High in Hays. She married Francis A. Wiesner on April 20, 1949. To this union were eight children. He preceded her in death Aug. 13, 1974. She married Lawrence "L,J." Waldschmidt October 6, 1984 in Ellis. He preceded her in death Feb. 28, 1997. She was a fulltime homemaker taking pride in her cooking, cleaning and laundry. She managed the City Caf with Francis in Ellis in the 1970s for 5 years. She was a caregiver for the homebound elderly while living in WaKeeney. In 1997 she moved to Russell and was a foster grandparent for 5 years with the preschool class. In June of 2005 she moved to CLC Nursing Home in Salina and in 2006 until her passing she lived at the Presbyterian Manor in Salina. She was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church of Ellis, a 52 year member of the Daughters of Isabella St. Gilbert Circle of Ellis and she was a past member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary of Ellis. She is survived by her children, Mary Henderson and husband James of Salina, Joyce Ann Wiesner of Topeka, Barbara R. Schuster and husband LaVerne of Russell, Leon Wiesner and wife Rhonda of Evans, CO, Janet Wahrman and husband Alan of Hays; 8 grandchildren, Starla Stokes of Salina, Chad Schuster of Great Bend, Brad Schuster of Salina, Amanda Schuster of Topeka, Stephanie Wiesner, Katie Upchurch and Kelly Frank all of Broomfield, CO, and Scott Henry of Garden City; five great grandchildren, Wyatt and Waylon Harmon of Topeka, Hunter and Alexis Rogers of Salina and Aiden Stokes of Salina; a brother, Daniel Braun Jr. and wife Betty of Salina and a sister, Mary Ann Kuhn of Wichita. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Michelle Marie Wiesner Feb 26, 1986; two sons, Steven F. Wiesner Dec. 21, 2008 and Kenneth F. Wiesner Sept. 23, 2010 and a sister, Alice Perryman July 10, 2010. Funeral services will be 10 AM Monday, March 30, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ellis with burial following in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday 4 PM - 8 PM and Monday 9 AM - 9:30 AM all at Keithley Funeral Chapel 400 E. 17th Ellis, KS 67601. A Daughters of Isabella rosary will be Sunday at 6:30 PM followed by a parish vigil at 7 PM all at the funeral chapel. Memorials are suggested to Mary Elizabeth Maternity Home in Hays or the St. Marys Building Fund in Ellis.
