Obituary
Arlyn J. Schumacher of Victoria, age 82, died Monday, June 7, 2021, at the Good Samaritan Society of Ellis Nursing Home. He was born March 13, 1939, in Pfeifer, to Wendelin and Anna (Schmidt) Schumacher. He married Clarita M. (Dreiling) on September 13, 1958, in Victoria.
He was a bricklayer for 50 years and owned and operated Arlyn Schumacher Masonry.
Arlyn grew up and attended grade school in Pfeifer, and attended Schoenchen High School, then was a 1957 graduate of St. Joseph Military Academy in Hays. He served 6 and years in the Kansas National Guard, and was a member of The Basilica of St. Fidelis. He enjoyed camping, boating, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Clarita Schumacher, of the home; one daughter, Michele Unrein and husband Glen, Victoria, KS; three brothers, Laverne Schumacher and wife, Jane, Hays, KS; Dennis Schumacher and wife, Kathy, Hays, KS; Wendy Schumacher and wife, Carol, Hays, KS; four grandchildren, Audrey Lewis (Jesse); Cory Unrein (Tiffany);
Amber Younger (Joel); and Courtney Unrein; nine great grandchildren, Braden Lewis; Keaton Lewis; Jaxon Lewis; Addilyn Lewis; Abby Bronson; Max Unrein; Kimber Younger; Emery Younger; and Jayce Younger.
Arlyn was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Kimberly Sue Schumacher; one sister, Twila Knight; and one infant brother, Vearl Joseph Schumacher.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, June 12, 2021, at The Basilica of St. Fidelis Victoria, Kansas with Father James Moster O.F.M. Cap. officiating.
Burial will be in St. Fidelis Cemetery, Victoria with military honors by the Victoria V.F.W. Post #1751.
A vigil service and a Victoria Daughters of Isabella rosary will be at 7:00 P.M. Friday, at The Basilica of St. Fidelis.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. Friday, and from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. Saturday, all at The Basilica of St. Fidelis.
